A "Vector" is a quantity possessing both magnitude and direction. Two vectors can summate to produce a third vector that has its own unique magnitude and direction. To "Mobilize" is to prepare, assemble, organize for action. In its full scope, mobilization includes the organization of all resources. "Vector Mobilization" is bringing together component segments of human movement into unified purposeful actions. The human skeleton exists because of Gravity. Every bone from head to toe provides a scaffolding for the human frame. Each bone and skeletal segment is a vector of motion. Movement is controlled by the brain as functional motor patterns not individual muscle contractions. Groups of nerve cells, neuronal ensembles, are coded for direction and amplitude of a movement pattern, ie they behave as vectors. Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais PhD (1904-1984) developed a method of movement education for reprogramming or relearning or reminding the brain of how to organise movement simply, free of effort, tension and hence also, as a consequence, free of pain. This method does not try to fix pathologies, it appeases them. One solution for back pain is to ask not only but maybe also "what am I doing wrong with my back". This principle of movement awareness and optimization can be utilized for any musculoskeletal condition concurrently with regular treatment. It also can be just for pleasure and learning.
